Meeting with Charlottesville BZA
Time: 4 PM Thursday, April 17, 2008
We are petitioning the BZA (Board of Zoning Appeals) to continue operating a
homeless shelter at the Hope Community Center. The Center is in R1.
Currently, only Hope Community Center and the Salvation Army provide homeless
shelters in the Charlottesville area. Hope Community Center has operated on funds donated by individuals. Our concern is totally charitable. We have provided accommodations for about 7,500 head count over 5+ months. We have taught computer seminars, provided career day and opportunities for connections with employers, transported people to health clinics, gotten people enrolled in college, and provided excellent meals and accommodations. Hope Community Center also provides towels and soap as well as a place for bathing for those in need. Please come to the City Hall meeting to show your support for the Community Center and the service it provides for those in the community who are in desperate need. |
